Shauna Lepley & Darren Irwin

Our Story

Darren and I met at our friends engagement party while he was on a two week leave from Iraq. After spending every minute with him that I could of his leave I decided that he was something special and decided to wait for him while he went back to Iraq for 7 months. We kept in contact by phone (when he could call) and email for the entire 7 months and when he came back last December (2007) it was like he never left. We picked up right where we left off and needlesstosay fell madly in love.
I knew he had the ring for a while and everytime we were alone together I thought he was going to pop the question. We had a trip planned to go see my mom in Hawaii so I had it all figured out that he was going to do it there. Well, he fooled me! He took me to dinner on April 11, 2008 in downtown Santa Rosa, as we were walking up to the restaurant I was checking his pockets and they were all flat so I figured it wasn't going to happen that night. He was shaky the entire dinner and kept on saying that the caffeine from the coffee he had that morning was still getting to him. Then he said he was full and didn't finish his steak... now if any of you know Darren, he never leaves a steak unfinished. Right when the dessert came he got up and said he had to go to the bathroom. Little did I know, he had already been to the restaurant earlier in the day so when I thought he was going to the bathroom he was really at the front desk picking up his ring and a dozen red roses! He came back to the table got down on his knee in the middle of the restaurant and took out the ring and asked me to marry him. I happily said YES.
We are getting married on April 11, 2009 and are very happy to have found eachother and start the rest of our lives together.
